Tropic Days Backpackers is located in a quiet area, a pleasant 20 minute walk from the Cairns Esplanade through Cairns shopping district.
If you feel like taking it easy, we offer frequent courtesy buses which run to and from town, between 7.30am and 9.30pm daily; making Tropic Days an ideal location to enjoy the city, while you have the option to relax in the peace and quiet we offer.
If you are arriving at Cairns by air, bus or train we can offer a free pick up service between 7.30am to 8.30pm. Cairns Airport has an international and domestic terminal, located about 6km from the city centre. A cab from the airport to Tropic Days will cost you about $16, or the shuttle bus costs $8.00 per person and will drop you to our door.
There are five Shopping Centres in Cairns, with the Showgrounds Shopping Centre right next door to Tropic Days. Cairns Central is only a ten minute walk from Tropic Days and contains a fantastic range of shops to satisfy any shopaholic. Westcourt Plaza, Stockland Earville, Festival Fair are also all close to the city centre. Most major chain stores and specialty stores are represented in the Cairns central business district as well as arts and crafts markets day and night, and the upmarket The Pier Marketplace which has a variety of glossy boutiques, souvenir shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Ringed on three sides by rainforest covered ranges, with the Coral Sea on the fourth, Cairns Seaport is a terminal for many major cruise ship. It is also home to a fleet of local cruise ships, charter boats, game fishing craft and Great Barrier Reef day tour and dive boats. Cairns is a great place to visit, and scenically, is one of the most appealing cities in Australia.
Roads in the Cairns Business District and suburban areas are accessible by conventional vehicles. Fuel outlets are plentiful and many are open 24 hours. We have all major banks and building societies including ANZ, Westpac, Metway, National Australia, Commonwealth, State Bank, Suncorp, Northern Permanent, Qld Teachers Credit Union, Currency Exchange, Bureau de Change, Travelex and Thomas Cook and numerous ATMs around the city. |
